A Small Revolution: Hows, whys, wheres and whens
So, A Small Revolution. Music events where 100% of the ticket revenue goes toward recording our featured artists in a professional recording studio.
How? : Our artists, event staff and curator donate their time voluntarily. The venue provides the P.A. and performance area at zero cost. The recording studio give us a reduced rate on the studio time.
Why? : Live event revenues have been indirectly funding recording sessions since both have existed. ASR is an attempt to make this a more transparent, inclusive and productive process.
Where? : The Bristol Pear in Selly Oak is our home venue, and their esteemed gaffer Mikey Smith is one of the people to whom we owe a debt of gratitude. Ben Hayes at Blue Whale studios, where we do our recording is another.
We promote our shows through the Custard Factory based music magazine Brumnotes, with editor Chris Moriarty another person who’s firmly on the Christmas card list. Tickets for our events are available online from The Ticket Sellers, another great Birmingham based creative business.
When? : Our next scheduled events are May 18th, 20th & 21st and June 22nd, 24th & 25th
